Back in the late 1970's Sparks had a lovely Christmas LP on the old King Bluegrass label. That label was subsequently bout out by Rebel and this new release is essentially that same album but with the addition of three new cuts and a new version of a couple of others. It is strong solid work, with Sparks singing an excellent choice of songs with feeling and adding a generous amount of his moody distinctive guitar work. SONGS: Christmas Time's A Coming, Beautiful Star of Bethlehem, Blue Christmas Away In A Manger, Go Tell It On The Mountain, and others : new are The Birthday of Our King and Christmas in the Mountains, two good songs by Bill Castle.
